Renewable Solar Energy: Electricity
With the ever evolving world of modern technology we have a wide range of renewable green energy solutions at our disposal that actually negate the need to consume carbon fuels at all. This will reduce both the
consumer's household bills and the environmental damage being caused through the use of carbon fuels.
The most popular and easiest option to use is Solar Electricity, known as Solar PV (Photovoltaic), which harvests electricity from Sunlight with the use of Solar Panels. In daylight hours the harvest is bountiful and any excess electricity can then be sold back to the national grid for a profit. At night, when there is no light to harvest, any required electricity can be drawn from the grid.
Current government incentives dictate that the system owner is paid for ALL electricity that their system generates, to include any consumed on site, by the system owner. A system must be operational by March 2012 to be entitled to enter the scheme, but 41.3p is paid per kilowatt produced by registered systems. Anything that is sold back to the grid earns a further 3p per kW.
You won't pay for Daytime Electricity and so you will save a minimum of £200/year. You will get paid at least £1000 tax free each year for all electricity your system generates for 25 years after your system goes live, provided this is not after 31 March 2012. You won't even need to do any maintenance work on your system after that, so there won't be extra costs. The cost to install a system is between £7500 and £20000, depending on what you require. Another plus is that it fully pays for itself within 10 years!
Renewable Solar Energy: Hot Water
Another use for Solar power are Solar Thermal Systems which are used to heat your household water.
The average system costs somewhere between £3500 and £12000 depending on what is required. By giving up to 70% of all the hot water you need, your household bills drop too.
From April 2012 the government will pay you for all hot water produced by your system which is likely to be somewhere between £350 and £400 each and every year.
